Herrick District Library has the following positions available:

Librarian I – Reference – Full-Time
E-9
Pay Range:     Hourly rates - $21.25 to $25.99
Annual:           $44,200 - $54,059
 
  • Herrick District Library has an opening for a Librarian I in the Reference Department. Qualifications include a Masters Degree in Library Science or Information from an ALA accredited school and Professional librarian experience or demonstrated ability. Preference will be given to candidates who are bi-lingual (English- Spanish).

  • Duties include:
    Reference Desk Service, including email and chat queries
    Collection Development
    Webpage Subject Development
    Public Resource & Computer Training

REACH OUT AND READ COORDINATOR - OTTAWA COUNTY
Independent Contractor

12 month commitment = $1,000.00 per month

Minimum qualifications

·       Associates degree, bachelor’s degree preferred
·       Self motivated with ability to set and accomplish tasks appropriate to responsibilities of broadly described work
·       Experience in health care
·       Experience coordinating independent organization’s efforts toward a common goal preferred
·       Experience creating successful fund raising events preferred
·       Experience in early childhood literacy
·       Experience with successful grant writing preferred

Scope of responsibilities:

·       locating eligible sites for ROR affiliation (medical clinics that serve children in poverty) and establishing ROR activity at those site;
·       facilitates ROR activities throughout the county, including:
               
1.    training for site staff, 
               
2.    securing reading materials for distribution, 
               
3.    obtaining volunteers for ROR waiting rooms,
               
4.    maintaining communication with those involved
·       works with Ottawa County public libraries or other organizations to provide books and volunteers; 
·       supports public information campaigns about the importance of early literacy, the ROR program and ROR volunteers;
·       tracks progress, facilitating data gathering

Functions:

1.    Identifies and establishes sites for ROR program throughout the Ottawa county area;

2.    Oversees acquisition and distribution of books and      supplies for ROR sites as needed (e.g. books and supplies for patients as well as waiting rooms);

3.    Facilitates and supports a “volunteer reader program” for ROR sites (first effort will be through invitation to independent public libraries throughout Ottawa County) and oversees creation of and supports a system that will assign “volunteer readers” to ROR sites and other locations where childhood literacy can be encouraged;  

4.    Performs liaison role and fosters collaboration between ROR and other youth literacy providers;

5.    Provides monthly reporting of progress to Herrick District Library and Great Start Collaborative.
