Welcome to Reader's Resources. Here, patrons will find detailed lists of new and popular books, information on Herrick's book discussion groups, and an online reader's advisory system.

Bookletters (book lists by email)

An email edition is available for some of the online book lists displayed at left. Patrons who would like to receive one or more of these lists by email each time the lists are updated may visit the BookLetters Signup page for further information.

Patrons who would like to keep online lists of books that they have read or would like to read in the future can sign up for a new service offered to Herrick District Library cardholders. Visit the mybooklist web site for further details on how to sign up for this free service today.

Book Discussion Groups

Random Readers Book Discussion
This group reads a variety of materials including general fiction, the classics, adventure stories, and poetry. Discussions are the first Monday of every month at the Main Library. See our current Events Listing for further information.

Mystery Book Group
This group reads books by popular mystery authors including Dick Francis, Sara Paretsky and Robin Cook. Meets the first Tuesday of every month at the Main Library. See our current Events Listing for further information.

Reader's Advisory

These databases and lists can help patrons who are trying to find a new author they might like, or the next book in the series they are reading.

Novelist:     Access Novelist at the library or from outside the library
Novelist suggests new books or authors based on books and subjects selected. This comprehensive online guide to fiction is for Herrick District Library patrons. You will need your 14-digit library card number to access this site from outside the building.

What's Next

Readalikes and If You Liked Lists
The Waterboro Public Library of Maine has created an index of Readalike and If You Like lists available on the Internet.

Author Information

Biography Reference Bank:     Access the Biography RB at the library
This database features biographical information on thousands of individuals. Available materials include photographs, articles, interviews, essays, book reviews, performance reviews, speeches, and obituaries.

Meet the Author
This database provided by Booksite.com has photographs and basic information for hundreds of popular authors. Many authors have provided interviews as well.
